Lot 66

Restaurant Review (Lot 66) - Thunder Bay, Ontario

Having opened its doors over fifteen years ago, Lot 66 has become a staple in the diverse, and ever-changing culinary scene here in Thunder Bay. From the moment you walk in, you'll not only gravitate towards this warm and welcoming space, but you'll also easily appreciate how polished it feels as well. Ambience and style appear effortless, and are emphasized through stone and quartz accent walls, and the deep, rich wood bar top, which wraps itself around a marble enclosed fire feature. Just beyond, you'll find a variety of beers on draught, with at least half of them offering local selections from favoured city-wide breweries. However, even with so many sights of splendour to contend with, your gaze will ultimately be drawn to our most high-end selections of scotches, tequilas, gins, and vodkas, all readily on display and available for you to enjoy.

The reputation of our dining room and lounge has come to be defined as lively and cutting edge, which only lends itself further to the unique experience we are known for here at Lot 66. This space caters itself to our vision as a casual upscale restaurant, which is perfect for not only a professional business dinner, or an intimate meal for two, but also weekly cocktails with friends, or an elaborate celebratory gathering with family. As the evening progresses, the dining room transforms into a sophisticated cosmopolitan lounge, where you can join us for appetizers and pizza, or continue to enjoy the outstanding selection from our full menu, available right up until close.

"Globally Inspired, Locally Sourced." Our menu itself can best be described in these four simple words; words that we truly believe both represent our creative, culinary style, but also our ambition to focus on farm to table dining in our community. Upon first glance, one can appreciate our efforts in sourcing only premium ingredients, as well as working with local vendors to incorporate seasonal items whenever possible. With an emphasis on high quality meats and seafood., including Angus, Sterling and Prime cuts, we anticipate the expectations of our guests by going above the ordinary, to provide the extraordinary. With our regular menu extending from duck and lamb, to locally-made pasta, we pride ourselves on bringing the best and brightest flavours to each and every one of our entrées. Add to this our ever-changing oyster market selection, weekly features and specials, and by design, we have created one of the city's most sought-after dining experiences. The only thing left is to pair these elements with our impeccable service, and an unrivaled wine list extensively featuring specially ordered consignment wines, and now you finally begun to understand how a meal at Lot 66 is so much more than just an evening out. Reservations, although not required, are highly recommended. Bookings are available through Open Table, or by calling the restaurant directly.

I visited this restaurant on July 14, 2022 and had an amazing meal. My beverage was an Ocean Riviera (Peach Vodka, Crème de Banana Liqueur, Blue Curaçao Liqueur, Pineapple Juice, Lemon Juice, Soda). For food my starter was Forest Mushroom Crostini (Soft Goat's Cheese, Roasted Mushrooms, Local Herbs, Garlic Aioli, Balsamic Reduction) and my entrée was Vegan Spicy Italian Sausage Conchiglie (Arrabbiata Herbed Tomato Sauce, Spicy Italian Vegan Sausage, Mushrooms, Sliced Garlic, Spinach. Leeks).

My Score: 9/10 definitely would recommend to anyone visiting Thunder Bay. One of the best meals I have had in a long time.
