Review of Sachigo Lake:
Sachigo Lake First Nation is an Oji-Cree First Nation band government in Unorganized Kenora District in Northwestern Ontario, Canada. It is located on Sachigo Lake, part of the Sachigo River system and Hudson Bay drainage basin, approximately 425 kilometers (264 mi) north of the town of Sioux Lookout.
The First Nation have reserved for themselves the 3,588-hectare (8,866-acre) Sachigo Lake 1 Indian Reserve, which serves as their main reserve, containing the community of Sachigo Lake 2 Indian Reserve and the 2,833-hectare (7,000-acre) Sachigo Lake 3 Indian Reserve.
I flew to Sachigo Lake on February 11, 2002 and was there until July 14, 2022 working for the North West Company (Northern).
My Score: 7/10 based on food selection and community. People very friendly once they get to know you. Lots of sand flies, fish flies and mosquitoes in the summer (bug spray is highly recommend if visiting) and very cold (-36) in the winter. Nice place to visit in the Fall. Be aware of dogs in the community.
